Festive for the Fourth!

Unknown

Independence day, the historical day when our Declaration of Independence from Great Britain was approved, is soon to be upon us! What joy it brings me to see people decorating their porches with flags and signs of our beautiful country. I can't help but to become a little bit giddy this time of year; reminiscing of past barbecues with family, parades, fireworks, and playing in the pool with my cousins. This year I hope to have some equally memorable times, in Chicago, with my husbands side of family!

Yes, It's another off-the-shoulder dress, and I will continue to sport this style all year long. I also enjoy exhibiting wedges throughout the season, but you could pair a dress with some sandals by the pool or with heels for a night out. You don't necessarily have to wear the common "America" shirt to join in the festivities. Just dive into your wardrobe and see what items you have that would compliment our country colors. I'm always a fan of a red lip if  you have nothing else, get creative!

Thank You for checking in & I hope this inspired you to celebrate our great nation.

The Perfect Summer Dress

Unknown
Today, I'm sharing the perfect summer dress in bright yellow to replace the sun that seems to have gone missing here in South Florida. Not only has it been m.i.a for a few days now, but will continue to elude us for approximately 4 more days this week. Don't worry, I've just started the book "Me Before You" (who's seen the movie!?) Hopefully that, among other things, can keep me occupied inside on these dreary days.

Now, about this dress...I wore it twice over the weekend, which should tell you something! The material is cotton, so of course it's super comfortable and lightweight. I will warn you to size up, because it is a bit short; I'm 5'3 and wearing a size 6 for reference. Asos has this dress in multiple colors, which I will be ordering at least one more (especially at $25). I can't tell you how much I adore when a piece makes me feel this feminine and chic. Off-the-shoulder is nothing new, but it is a classic style that looks great. It has made a huge appearance this season, and I for one am glad.

"Amish Dress" + Pink heels

Unknown

I hope that you all had a wonderful memorial day week/weekend. It is super sad that it's already come to an end, because I loved every school-free moment. For me, the time off consisted of so many of my favorite things; fireworks, family, double dates, ice-cream, a beach day, naps, and a concert. Oh, to be on vacation forever, how sweet that would be. David (hubby) and I went to a concert on Wednesday to see one of my favorite bands, mewithoutYou.

I wore this fun dress that I refer to as my "Amish dress", haha. I can't help but call it that because of the simple design and style of it. My dad actually used to live with an Amish family and I loved that they made their own clothes! You'll never guess where I got this neat piece....Goodwill. Yep, it was probably over five years ago, but I used to shop at thrift stores more and found many good items. I love that it elongated my short frame and makes me feel dressed up but still casual. Obviously, I changed my shoes into some comfortable moccasins before going into the concert.

Have you found any pieces for a steal from thrift stores? Do Share them with me!

Bohemian Beach Getaway!

Unknown
Happy Ash Wednesday & here's to hoping your week is going well!  I started summer classes on Monday so my schedule is picking up again, but for the past two weeks I have been enjoying time off.  For the first part of vacation, my husband and I spent a few days with his parents at the Tradewinds Island Resort. Funny thing is, I used to work at the front desk before David and I ever met. We have stayed there a few times and it's always so much fun at the beach visiting with old co-workers and enjoying the grounds. They have multiple pools, restaurants, hammocks, and even a little paddle boat river that runs through the resort!

Here are a few photos of what I wore upon arrival. Comfort and breathability is key when it comes to  going to the beach and that's exactly what this dress and shoes afforded me. I felt a bit dressed up but was still to walk the property comfortably.

P.S- A fashion trend that always makes me feel super chic is matching my shoes with an accessory like a purse or belt, give it a try ;)

A White Graduation!

Unknown
Another Ash Wednesday (see what I did there?) is upon us! It's been a beautiful week thus far, completely due to myself and husband being on official vacation from school and work as of Monday. I was lucky enough to have my entire immediate family and my in-laws at my graduation ceremony and celebration. We ended up leaving the ceremony early because it was soooo long! P.F.Changs was calling to us, so we headed out and enjoyed the afternoon of food and family. I wore this adorable white dress for the occasion. It's actually the same one I wore to my bridal shower over a year and a half ago, so it also has sentimental value. In my opinion, light girly dresses are best for graduations so that they don't show through whatever your school color gown is and you don't get as hot. Plus, you can wear them again for a spring/summer date or special event. Windsor has so many cute options right now and I linked my favorites below!

Black Girly & Geometric Wedges

Unknown
Happy Wednesday Y'all!  Hope you are having a great week and enjoying the weather. If you live anywhere near Florida, then you know that it has been gorgeous. I'm feeling super positive in spite of it being finals week, because it's almost over. Hallelujah! I am looking forward to a vacation in Asheville soon, taking less classes over the summer, and studying for my PCAT.

About this outfit, I love all black because it hides my love for fatty foods, which I am really working on! But, there is something about feeling put together that makes me more productive throughout my day.  This top and these leggings are some of my favorite pieces in my closet.  Solid items are so versatile year-round and these ones in particular are super comfortable as well. These leggings aren't see through, which is my biggest pet peeve when it comes to leggings. Plus, they have a thicker waistband. I will be getting this top in another color asap because I love it so much! If you are too, I would size down because it is pretty long and flowy (I'm wearing a small)

TOP: Nordstrom $27 (worth every penny!) / LEGGINGS: Lou & Grey / WEDGES: (similar here) / NECKLACE: (got this particular one at my work gift shop Lol) inexpensive one here and pricey but adorable one here

Green Garden

Unknown

This whole outfit is the epitome of comfortable and cute & I wore it to church this past Sunday.  The thing about my church is that its held inside of a movie theater (cool, right?). This means that we are standing on a downward slope during worship; which can get super uncomfortable if I don't have supportive shoes on! I remember growing up watching the ladies at church kick off their shoes, and now I understand why. Luckily for me, I could wear these ones all day. The dress, shoes, and purse are all from Ross so you probably wont be able to find the exact ones, but I found out that this brand of  shoe is sold at multiple places so I've linked a few pairs that are adorable!

p.s-the sermon was super good and thought provoking - "We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us..." - Romans 12:6

A Pastel Performance!

Unknown
My friend and I went to see the beloved musical, The Lion King, at the Straz center! It was my second musical, and I loved it. The costumes were impressively creative and some of the voices were heavenly. I went with soft pastels and fabrics for this fancy look. I may have to buy this dress in every color, considering how inexpensive and versatile it is. In the heat of summer I could wear it by itself, or on a chilly night, just throw on a cardigan.
